Project: Watercourse Menomonee River Stream Management
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Client: Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District
Scope of Work:
The goal of this project was to remove approximately 1,100 ft of concrete channel bottom, which had reached the end of its usefulness and was beginning to exhibit failures. The high flow velocity that existed with the concrete channel, as well as the shallow depth of the water flow, presented problems for fish passage, so resting areas and refuge zones were created as part of the final design. Eleven riffle anchors were also installed every 50 to 100 ft with the purpose of anchoring the channel.
